Latin America is an important economic and business partner for the U.S., Europe, Asia and numerous additional economies worldwide. In addition, major Latin American economies are in growth mode supported by improvements in commodity prices, rising business confidence, increased consumption and stronger exports. Unofficially nicknamed “The Gateway to the Americas”, Miami is increasingly seen as a center for developing international trade ties and finance links with Latin America.

Numerous large companies are headquartered in or around Miami, including Bacardi, Carnival Corporation, Lennar, Navarro Discount Pharmacies, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Oceania Cruises, Perry Ellis International, Ryder Systems, Telefónica, Telemundo, Univision, U.S. Century Bank, and World Fuel Services.

As a banking and business capital and because of its proximity to Latin America, Miami serves as the headquarters  of Latin American operations for more than 1400 multinational corporations including AIG, American Airlines, Cisco, Disney, Exxon, FedEx, Kraft Foods, Microsoft, Yahoo, Oracle, Sony and Wal-Mart.
